It runs in thebackground and monitors the communication between your phone andthe desktop computer.When your phone is placed in the cradle and the HotSync button ispressed, all data is synchronized on your phone with the desktopcomputer.The applications include: Date Book Address Book To Do List Memo Pad Expense Applications email ApplicationsData is synchronized even if the Palm Desktop application is notrunning.Performing Your First HotSync OperationAn initial setup is required on both the desktop computer and your phoneto synchronize the data for the first time. Once the information isentered, and your phone is recognized, the information is not requiredagain. The first connection must be completed using a direct connectionwith a desktop holder, not a modem.Perform a HotSync the First Time1. Follow the instructions for "Installing the i500 USB Drivers, PalmTMDesktop, and Pocket Mirror Applications" on page 30.2. Launch the Palm Desktop application on the desktop computer.3. Click on the HotSync icon located in the Windows task bar toopen the HotSync Manager.4. Click “Local USB” from the HotSync Managers menu. Be sure “LocalSerial” is not checked.
