See diagram below.Remote temPeRAtURe SenSoR WiRingUse 18 AWG shielded twisted-pair grounded at the sen-sor mounting location. Sensor wiring runs of up to 250feet are attainable if properly shielded wire is used andthe installation environment is free of electrical noise.Sensor wire should be kept at least five feet away fromline voltage wiring. The SZ1041A accepts three 2-wire remote temperaturesensors. Consult the TS Series Temperature SensorSubmittal Data sheet for a complete listing of packagingand application styles. When using TCS Basys Controlsthree-wire sensors, use the black and red leads andeither clip or twist off the white lead. Make sure that thedip switches are set for the sensors you are using.PoWeRing the SZ1041ASuperstats are powered from 24 VAC +/- 20%.If wiring for communications, dedicated power must beused to power the Superstat. Several “S” Series ther-mostats may be powered from the same transformer, provided that the transformer has sufficient power.(Superstats require 8 VA @ 24 VAC.)Caution: Do not connect to 120 VAC. Whenmultiple TCS Basys Controls devices are usinga single transformer, the polarity of the powerwiring must be maintained because all TCSdevices are half-wave rectified and have com-mon return paths. When the Superstat is used as a stand-alone thermostatwithout communications, the unit transformer may beused to power it. To do this, install a jumper betweenthe “R” and “+24” terminals. The “24-” terminal mustthen be connected to the common side of the unit trans-Wiring for the SZ1041 A**Add 500Ω resistor(included in bag) toconvert 0/4 to 20mAto, 0/2 to 10 VDC.Y1 or W1 = HeatY2 or W2 = CoolNOTE: Comm wiresonly needed withSZ line. Do not usewith wireless line.NOTE: The unittransformermay be usedto power anywireless lineproduct.
