A short keypress is defined as less thanone second. You may need to experiment to become familiarwith how long short and long keypresses are.On/off/volume controlRotating the on/off/volume control clockwise turns on theradio and increases volume. Rotating the control counter-clockwise decreases volume and turns off the radio. Thisalso controls the volume level of indicators and confidencetones.To preserve battery life, it is recommended that you turn offthe radio when it is not in use.16-way selectorEach position on the 16-way selector can be prepro-grammed for:n Trunking mode preset calls: Change to the assignedposition and press the PTT to initiate a trunked call.n Conventional channels: Change to the assigned positionto automatically switch the radio into conventionalmode.n Changing network: Change to the assigned position andpress the PTT to change to a different trunkingnetwork.What preset calls, networks and conventional channels areavailable for your radio may be listed on the custom settingspage on the inside back cover of this manual.The label displayed for each position on the 16-way selectorcan describe what option is available.
