98 Working with Base Stations from Your PC TB9400 Installation and Operation Manual© Tait Limited March 20175.4.5 Configuring Receive-Only Base StationsYou can program a receiver with the same configuration as a reciter. Thiswill keep the number of required configuration files to a minimum and, ifpossible, re-use existing configuration files.Transmit information for the receiver will be displayed in the webinterface, but this can be ignored. Also, some polled SNMP parameters, such as Tx NAC, will return the correct transmitter configuration data, butnone of these parameters is used by the receiver.5.4.6 Configuring Base Stations in a Channel GroupYou can configure the way the base station behaves in its channel group. Also, qualified network engineers can change DSCP assignments, so thatrouters and switches provide a different quality of service to different typesof IP packets. For more information on designing and configuringsimulcast channel groups, refer to TN-1514 (P25 Phase 1) or TN-2341(P25 Phase 2).In trunked networks, many base stations are single and not actually part ofa channel group. However, they still must be assigned to a channel groupconfiguration and some of its parameters must be set correctly.5.4.7 Setting Up Custom AlarmsEach of the base station’s 12 digital inputs can be used to raise a customalarm when the input goes high or low. The Custom Alarms form(Configure > Alarms > Custom Alarms) allows you to assign a name toeach custom alarm, and to configure whether the alarm is triggered whenthe digital input goes high or low. Custom alarms are reported via the webinterface and SNMP traps.Custom alarms are used to provide an alarm when an external eventactivates a digital input. You can rename any of the available alarms toprovide a more meaningful name, such as “Door open”.5.4.8 Disabling the Front Panel KeypadYou can disable the front panel keypad to prevent access to the base stationvia the front panel menus. Select Configure > Base Station > Miscellaneousand in the Front Panel area clear the Keypad enabled check box.Notice If you disable the front panel keypad, you cannot use it to findout the base station’s IP address. Make sure that you store the IP addresssecurely and do not lose it.
