13Targus Mobile Port StationParallel PortIf you connect the Mobile Port Station to a USB 1.1 port onyour computer, the parallel port is only compatible withprinters and only supports enhanced bi-directional printerfeatures, such as returning printer status. For best results,you should connect high bandwidth external devices, whichhave a parallel connection, such as a Zip ® drive, directly toyour computer.If you connect the Mobile Port Station to a USB 2.0 port onyour computer, the parallel port supports all paralleldevices. No degradation should occur.TroubleshootingDevice Not Working• Make sure that the device is fully inserted into the correctport on the Mobile Port Station.• Plug the device into a different port on the Mobile PortStation. If it still doesn’t work, test the device byconnecting it directly to your computer.• Verify that you ran the Setup or Install program for thedevice.• Make sure that the device appears in Device Manager.For more information refer to “Verifying Devices areInstalled” on page 14.• Disconnect all devices from the Mobile Port Station andreconnect them, one at a time. Check that each deviceworks before plugging in the next one.Printer Not FoundIf your parallel printer is not working, refer to “Checking andRedirecting the Printer Port Settings” on page 9 forinstructions on how to verify and change the port settings.
