4 – Recording—Advanced recording26 TASCAM CD-RW4Uthan the threshold, synchronized recording will nottake place.Because synchronized recording can be turned onand off while recording is taking place, it is thereforepossible to record with a synchronized automaticstart, and a manual end, or vice versa. When the source material is being played backbefore synchronized recording is enabled, the condi-tions under which synchronized recording will start(after synchronized recording has been enabled) are:When the signal drops below the threshold for onesecond or more and then rises above the thresholdagain (this is the general condition, of which startingsynchronized recording from a stopped or pausedsource is a special case):Alternatively, when recording digitally from sources(MD, CD and DAT) which output track divisions, synchronized recording starts when a track divisionis received, regardless of the level:To stop synchronized recording:1 Place the unit be in record mode, with theSYNC indicator in the display lit.2 Stop the source. After a few seconds, the unitenters record ready mode. The time betweenthe stopping of the source and enteringrecord ready mode is used to record a gap atthe end of the track.3 Restart the source to restart recording (if nochanges are made to the unit’s controls), asthe unit is still in sync mode and will startrecording again when the source is detected.NOTEWhen recording in sync mode, you may notice a slightdelay between starting the source, and the CD-RW4Uresponding. This is due to the way in which the unit works, storing the data in a memory buffer before writing it to thedisc. The resulting delay is therefore not a cause for con-cern—all audio data received between the start and endpoints will be recorded.leveltimeS_LVLNoise is higherthan thresholdStart of track is not registeredAt least 1secondRecordingstartsS_LVLleveltimeTrack signal from sourcestarts recordingS_LVLleveltime
