» HD-P2 ReadMe1Unlike Compact Flash media, which has no movingparts, MicroDrive media is a small mechanicaldevice. It is therefore adversely affected byvibrations that could cause the drive mechanismto skip. Such vibrations could be caused by loudsounds in the environment where the HD-P2 islocated – they could be caused by running the built-in speaker at high sound levels – they could alsobe caused by excessive jostling when used withthe shoulder strap. It is strongly recommended thatCompact Flash media be used in situations wherevibration, physical shock, or jostling is possible. One symptom of MicroDrive media being affectedby vibration or shock is stopped recordings due to abuffer over run.LCD GhostingIf the LCD backlight is on for 16+ hours and/orthe temperature exceeds 40 degree Celsius, faintghosting of the LCD information may appear. It is not permanent and will go away when thetemperature is reduced.Mic Switch OperationThe MIC switch must be set to EXT for the built-in speaker to function, even if the individual LEFTINPUT and RIGHT INPUT switches are set toLINE. This is to prevent feedback from occurringbetween the built-in mic and the built-in speaker.ª For Version 1.02 SoftwareThis document adds or replaces information thathas been added or changed since the printing of theversion of the Owner’s Manual with the designationD00895120A shown in the upper right side of thecover page.IntroductionHardwareMicroDrive MediaFireWire PowerSome PCI FireWire cards have been found to have apower connector on them that can take power froma disk drive-style power connector. Such cards relyon that power connector for to make good voltageavailable to a device connected to their FireWireconnection. If your PCI based FireWire card has a connector fora disk drive-type power plug, it must be connectedfor proper FireWire voltage to be available to theHD-P2 via the FireWire connection.
