Then the playback monitoring stops, and theRECORD key flashes until the OUT point is reached.Then playback from the track starts again, and theRECORD key stops flashing.Three seconds after the OUT point, the playbackpoint then rewinds to three seconds before the INpoint.At this point, you may decide that the IN and OUTpoints need to be adjusted (maybe you were a littleslow in hitting the keys when you first set them). See“Naming and editing mark points” on page 30 fordetails.TIPIf the REPEAT key is pressed so that it is lit, you canautomatically repeat this rehearsal process as manytimes as you want, “hands-free”. You can press theREPEAT key to turn repeat or off while the rehearsal istaking place.Recording the punchWhen you are ready to record, rewind to before theIN point if necessary (usually the Pocketstudio 5 willhave done this for you).Press the flashing AUTO PUNCH key so that it lightssteadily (if the REPEAT key is on, it will turn off).Press the PLAY key. When the Pocketstudio 5reaches the IN point, the RECORD key lights, andrecording starts. Off-track monitoring stops.When the OUT point is reached, the off-track moni-toring starts againRepeat the punch recording for as many times as ittakes to get it right (but you can’t set automaticrepeat). You probably won’t get it right first time, sodon’t worry. Just carry on until you get a take you’rehappy with.Checking the punchTo check the punch, rewind to before the IN point,turn off the AUTO PUNCH key, and press PLAY. Youwill hear the lead-in to the punch point, the punchedmaterial, and the material after the punch.If you are not happy with the punch, you can turn onthe AUTO PUNCH key again (the IN and OUT pointswill remain), and re-record the punch.Track bouncingLike many multitrack devices, the Pocketstudio 5allows you to bounce tracks (that is, combinealready-recorded tracks with each other so that theold tracks are then available for further recording) Onthe Pocketstudio 5, you can even bounce tracks tothemselves.The way in which this works is that the MASTERoutputs are “looped back” inside and can then berecorded on any armed tracks.This means that you can record more than four tracksin the Pocketstudio 5.However, when you are bouncing tracks, you shouldtake note of the following:1Drums +bass LMASTERL and R2Drums +bass R3Bass L(reuse)4Bass R(reuse)1Drums L2Drums R3Bass L4Bass R
