TASCAM M-164/M-164FX/M-164UF 195 Raise the channel fader.CAUTIONEven if there is no meter indication or no signal is beingoutput despite the fact that a signal is being input, donot raise the faders carelessly. The operation of otherswitches or features could cause a loud signal to beoutput suddenly, possibly damaging speakers or otherequipment. Sudden loud noises could also harm yourhearing.The best settings for audio quality are when the inputmeter “0” indicator lights, and the channel fader or STfader is set in the range around 0 (where the fader scaleon the mixer is highlighted). If the fader is set to anextremely low value, we recommend lowering the ampvolume and then raising the fader. On the other hand,if the fader is too high, we recommend raising the ampvolume and lowering the fader.Using the mixer channel functionsHigh-pass filter (HPF)Press the HPF switch to turn the high-pass filter ON andcut frequencies of 80 Hz or less by –12 dB/octave. Thehigh-pass filter affects inputs from both MIC and LINEinput jacks, but it is especially effective when using micsfor reducing unwanted noise from wind and breathing.EQChannels 1–6 have 3-band equalization (EQ) with HI,MID and LOW frequency boost and cut adjustment rangesof ±15 dB.The HI band is a shelving EQ. Use the EQ HI knob to boostor cut the frequency band above 12 kHz.The MID band is a peaking EQ with 2.5 kHz as the centralfrequency. Use the EQ MID knob to boost or cut midfrequencies.The LOW band is a shelving EQ. Use the EQ LOW knob toboost or cut the frequency band below 100 Hz.4 − Using the mixer
