1 TASCAM US-144Installing the drivers for Mac OS XThe US-144’s drivers are provided on theCD-ROM as a package file entitled US-122L & US-144 driver x_yy.mpkg. (x_yy isthe version number.) Simply double-clickon this package file’s icon to launch it andfollow the directions that appear on yourscreen.Installing Cubase LEInsert the Cubase LE CD-ROM intoyour computer.The opening screen will appear.Click the Install Cubase LE button.1�2�Enter the serial number of Cubase LE .The Cubase LE serial number isaffixed to the soft case of the CubaseLE disc.When you have finished entering theinformation, click the OK button.Follow the instructions shown on thescreen with the installation.When the installation is completed, adialog box indicating that installa-tion was successful will appear, andthen you will return to the openingscreen.Close the opening screen.3�4�5�6�Settings on your computerHere are a few basic points to help you setup your computer for best performancewith audio applications.Do not run other applications. You willprobably use your computer for applica-tions other than audio, but we recom-mend that you avoid running other appli-cations at the same time you are runningaudio programs. Processing digital audioplaces a considerable load on your com-puter.This means that if you are running otherapplications (especially graphics or•Internet tools) at the same time as youraudio application, the processing maynot happen fast enough.Certain devices such as network cards orWinModems can cause conflicts withUSB processing. If you experience sucha conflict, you can use the DeviceManager to temporarily disable theoffending device.If your computer has an IDE hard disk,enabling Direct Memory Addressing(DMA) will improve performance.
