The mid-pivotcould become unbalanced andfall when removed from themachine if not properlysupported by the overheadcrane.49 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the control box side lower compression arm.50 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from thelower compression arm to turntable pivot pins.Place a rod through the compression armpivot pin and twist to remove the pin. Removethe compression arm from the machine.Crushing hazard. The lowersecondary compression armcould become unbalanced andfall when removed from themachine if not properlysupported by the overheadcrane.51 Repeat step 50 for the engine side lowercompression arm.52 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the lower secondary boom.53 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from thelower secondary boom to turntable pivot pin.Use a soft metal drift to remove the pin.54 Remove the lower secondary boom from themachine.Crushing hazard. The lowersecondary boom could becomeunbalanced and fall whenremoved from the machine ifnot properly supported by theoverhead crane.5-2Secondary Boom Lift CylinderThe secondary boom lift cylinder raises and lowersthe secondary boom. Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without these skillsand tools could result in death orserious injury and significantcomponent damage. Dealerservice is strongly recommended.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications,Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications.1 Rotate the turntable to the side until the boomis centered between the steer and non-steertires.2 Raise the primary boom to full height. Do notextend it. Turn the machine off.3 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the lug on the rod-end of the secondaryboom lift cylinder.4 Open the engine side turntable cover. Pull upon the engine tray lock pin and swing theengine tray out and away from the machine.Secure the engine tray from moving.
