29Network ConfigurationGeneral Information The K8 can be used in a wired LAN network (Ethernet LAN or Powerline LAN),or a wireless radio network (WLAN) if an external “WLAN bridge” is installed.If you wish to use your K8 in your home network, you must first complete thenecessary network settings on the K8. This involves entering the network para-meters such as the IP address, etc.Please refer to the Chapter 'Glossary / Additional Information' and 'NetworkTerms' for additional explanations of terminology relating to networktechnology. In the following sections we assume that a functioning home network withrouter and (DSL) Internet access already exists.If you are unclear about some aspect of installing, setting up and configuringyour network, please address your queries to your network administrator or anetwork specialist.Compatible hardwareand UPnP serversThe market offers a vast number of routers, NAS devices and USB hard discsmade by a huge variety of manufacturers. devices are generallycompatible with other makes of machine which bear the UPnP label.
