The chimney portion (whether factor-builtor masonry) must be tall enough to providesufficient draft and safe exit of smoke andcombustion products.5. Be sure that your Chimney is safely con-structed and in good repair. Have thechimney inspected by the Fire Departmentor a qualified inspector (such as a Chimneysweep). Your insurance company may beable to recommend a qualified inspector.6. Inspect chimney connector and chimneytwice monthly during the heating season forany deposit of creosote or soot which mustbe removed.7. Provide air for combustion from outside thehouse into the room where the heater is lo-cated.
