24 25Using the telephoneAs telephones do not all work the same, youmay experience different results from differentphones. You can use many phones by simplyholding the receiver to your ear, without theneed to change to a dedicated telephoneprogram on your hearing aid. You may need tomove the handset slightly up or back to find theposition that sounds best to you.Depending on the phone type you use, yourhearing healthcare professional might haveselected a dedicated phone program on yourhearing aids. Your hearing aids may have anautomatic telephone program (easy-t feature),which automatically switches to a dedicatedtelephone program when a telephone receiveris brought close to one of your hearing aids. Youwill hear a short melody to indicate you are inthe telephone (easy-t) program.When the receiver is moved away from thehearing aid, it will automatically return to theprevious listening program. If the hearing aiddoes not switch to the telephone program1.2.3.automatically when the telephone receiver isheld to the ear, the magnet for easy-t hearingaids should be attached to the telephonereceiver. The magnet is designed to strengthenthe magnetic field at the ear piece of hearingaid compatible telephones.To affix the optional magnet:1. Clean the telephone receiver.Hold the magnet nearthe “listening end” of yourtelephone receiver and releaseit. The magnet will flip to theappropriate side and seekthe optimal position on thetelephone receiver.2. Place the double-sided tapein this optimal position on thetelephone receiver.3. Attach the magnet to the tape.
