If necessary, refill the appliancewith cold water up to a pressure of approx. 1.5 barand bleed air from the entire heating system.• Open the service valve of the gas supply pipe.• Turn on the power supply and the main switch.Note!If it is necessary to keep the main switchon for certain inspection and maintenance,this is indicated in the description of themaintenance task.Note!The boiler is fitted with a combustion analysistest point, see fig 14.6. A suitable combustionanalyser can be connected to this point toestablish the combustion performance of theboiler. Checking/adjustment of this value isrequired in the following instances; replacementof gas valve, conversion to or from NaturalGas/ LPG as part of the service schedule or ifincorrect combustion is suspected(see section 15).14.2 MaintenanceBefore commencing any servicing or maintenance work,carry out an initial inspection of the system as follows:• Inspect the flue, pipe work and electricalconnections for indications of damage ordeterioration.• Inspect the air supply and ventilation arrangementsof the installation.• Check the heating and water system, in particularthe condition of radiator valves, evidence of leakagefrom the heating system and dripping hot water taps.Note!Checking of the CO2 should be followed asper service schedule, every year, if a flue gasanalyser is not available then perform visualand gas rate check.14.3 Functional check of boiler operation• Carry out a functional check of the boiler operationas previously detailed.• Remove the appliance casing as detailed and operatethe boiler.• Inspect the burner operation through the viewingwindow.• Check that the flames are evenly covering thesurface of the burner.• Inspect for signs of excessive flame lift or sooting.14.1 GeneralTo ensure the continued safe and efficient operationof the boiler it is recommended that it is checked andserviced as necessary at regular intervals.The frequency of servicing will depend upon theparticular installation conditions and usage, but ingeneral once per year should be adequate.Danger!It is law that all servicing work is carried out bya competent person (CORGI registered).Inspections/Maintenance work not carried outby a competent person can result in damage toproperty and personal injury.Only genuine Vaillant spare parts may be used forinspections, maintenance and repair work to ensure thelong term working order of all functions of your Vaillantappliance. Any spare parts which might be requiredare contained in the current spare parts catalogues.Information can be obtained from Vaillant CustomerService Centres.Safety instructionsIMPORTANT:Before starting any maintenance work:• Isolate the mains electricity supply by disconnectingthe plug at the socket outlet (if there is only anisolating switch remove the fuse from the switch).• Turn OFF the gas supply at the gas service valvefitted to the boiler.• When removing any water carrying componentsensure that water is kept away from all electricalcomponents.• Always use new seals and O rings when parts arereplaced.• Always test for gas soundness and always carry outfunctional checks after any service work and afterreplacing any gas carrying component.• Always check earth continuity, polarity andresistance to earth with a multimeter afterany service work and after replacing any electricalcomponent.Danger!Electrocution by touching live parts can befatal!The supply terminals in the appliance switchbox are live even if the main ON/OFF switch isturned off.Protect the switch box from spray water.Before working on the appliance, turn off thepower supply and secure against restart!Servicing 14
