Instructions for Use, Installation and Servicing ecoMAX pro20COUPLING10 Gas, Water and Condensate connections10.1 Gas ConnectionBefore connection check the supply of local gas.The gas supply can be connected from below, or throughthe wall at the rear of the boiler. See fig 10.1. and refer tosection 4.3.The whole of the gas installation, including the meter, should be inspected, tested for soundness and purgedin accordance with the current issue of BS6891 andin IE the current edition of I.S.813 “Domestic GasInstallations”.10.2 Water ConnectionsProvision is made for the water connections to be madefrom above the boiler, see fig 10.2 (using the two 22mmcompression couplers supplied). The position is shownon the wall template.Flush out the domestic hot water and the heatingsystems before connecting to the boiler.10.3 Condensate Drain Connection, refer to fig.10.1.The condensate drian connection is at the underside rearof the boiler. The condense drain is suitable for use withstandard "Push fit" overflow pipe and couplings DO NOTuse adhesive when connecting to the spigot (1) Thecondense drain pipe (2) should be non corrosive plastic. The drain pipe should have a continuous fall of a least(45mm per metre) away from the boiler. Condensateshould, if possible be discharged into the householdinternal drainage system.(a) Preferably the drain pipe should run and terminateinternally to the house soil and vent stack at least 450mmabove the invert of the stack. A trap giving a water sealof at least 75mm should be incorporated into the piperun, and there must be an air break in the discharge pipeupstream of the trap. This should be designed so that thecondensate cannot be discharged into the house if thecondensate drain pipe becomes blocked.(b) Connecting into the internal discharge branch(e.g. sink waste or washing machine) with an externaltermination, the condensate drain pipe should have aminimum diameter of 22mm with no length restrictionand should incorporate a trap with a 75mm (3) seal. The connection should preferably made down streamof the sink waste trap, if the connection is only possibleup stream, then an air break is needed between the twotaps. This is normally provided by the sink waste.(c) Termination in a gully (5) below grid level (6) andabove the water level. The external pipe length should bekept as short as possible to minimise the risk of freezingand should not be more than 3 metres.(d) At a condensate absorption point (soakaway) (7). Theexternal pipe length should not be more than 3 metres.Refer to the latest issue of BS 6798 SpecificationFig 10.2 1269222mm compression is therecommended fixingfor servicing.(not supplied)Fig 10.1 13081for installation of gas fired boilers of rate input notexceeding 70kW net for further information. Before operating the boiler the condensate trap must befilled with water.
