(The actual reading on the digitalpressure gauge should ideally be 0.5 bar plus an additionalpressure corresponding to the highest point of the systemabove the base of the boiler – 10 m head equals an addition-al 1 bar reading on the pressure gauge. The minimum pres-sure should not be less than 1 bar in any installation.) If thesystem is to be treated with an inhibitor it should be appliedat this stage in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruc-tions. Tel: 0870 8700362.• Refit the boiler casing (see section 5.10).• Only in ecoTEC plus appliances: Attach the bottom coverto the boiler by sliding the front edge of the cover intothe lip at the bottom front edge of the appliance chassis.• Carefully push the rear of the bottom cover upwardsuntil the spring retaining clips engage at the side ofthe appliance. It may be necessary to adapt the bot-tom cover by removing the easy break sections.6.2 Handing over to the userNoteWhen you have finished the installation, attachthe sticker supplied (835593) to the appliancein the user’s language.• Set the maximum radiator temperature control to thedesired setting.• Set the maximum hot water temperature control tothe desired setting.• Instruct the user in the safe and efficient operation ofthe boiler, in particular the function of– the boiler on/off control– the maximum radiator temperature control– the maximum hot water temperature control (com-bination boilers only)– the pressure gauge• Show the user how to operate any external controls.• Explain to the user the importance of having the boilerregularly serviced by a competent servicing company.To ensure regular servicing, it is strongly recommend-ed that arrangements are made for a MaintenanceAgreement. Please contact Vaillant Service Solutions(0870 6060 777) for further details.• Record central heating operating pressure in theBenchmark gas boiler commissioning checklist alongwith the heat input (kW) and temperature differencebetween flow and return.• Leave the user instructions and the installationinstructions with the user.6.3 Vaillant warrantyVaillant provide a full parts and labour warranty for this appli-ance. The appliance must be installed by a suitably competentperson in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation andUse) Regulations 1998, and the manufacturer’s instructions. Inthe UK ‘CORGI’ registered installers undertake the work incompliance with safe and satisfactory standards. All unventeddomestic hot water cylinders must be installed by a compe-tent person to the prevailing building regulations at the timeof installation (G3). Terms and conditions apply to the warran-ty, details of which can be found on the warranty registrationcard included with this appliance. Failure to install and com-mission this appliance in compliance with the manufacturer’sinstructions may invalidate the warranty (this does not affectthe customer’s statutory rights).7 Inspection and maintenance7.1 Initial inspectionTo ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of theboiler it is recommended that it is checked and serviced asnecessary at regular intervals. The frequency of servicingwill depend upon the particular installation conditions andusage. An inspection must be carried out once a year.Danger!It is law that all servicing work is carried outby a competent person (CORGI registered).Inspections/Maintenance work not carried outby a competent person can result in damage toproperty and personal injury.Only genuine Vaillant spare parts may be used for inspec-tions, maintenance and repair work to ensure the long-term working order of all functions of your Vaillant appli-ance. Any spare parts which might be required are con-tained in the current spare parts catalogues. Informationcan be obtained from Vaillant Customer Service Centres.7.1.1 Safety instructionsImportant:Before starting any maintenance work:• Isolate the mains electricity supply by disconnectingthe plug at the socket outlet (if there is only an isolat-ing switch remove the fuse from the switch).• Turn OFF the gas supply at the gas service valve fittedto the boiler.• When removing any water carrying components ensurethat water is kept away from all electrical components.• Always use new seals and O–rings when parts are replaced.• Always test for gas soundness and always carry outfunctional checks after any service work and afterreplacing any gas carrying component.• Always check earth continuity, polarity and resistanceto earth with a multimeter after any service work andafter replacing any electrical component.Danger!Electrocution by touching live parts can be fatal!The supply terminals in the appliance switchbox are live even if the main ON/OFF switch isturned off.
