5Operating Manual geoTHERM VWS/VWW 0020051578_01If an external passive cooling system is installed in yoursystem:a Caution!Danger of falling below the dew point andcondensate formation! The heating flow temperature settingmust not be too low in cooling mode. Thecooling function is still effective with aflow temperature of 20 °C.a Caution! The cooling function is impaired if thethermostatic radiator valves are closed! The thermostatic radiator valves mustbe switched to the "open" position incooling mode to ensure that the cooledheating water circulates smoothlythrough the underfloor circuit.2.2 Prohibition on alterationsd Danger!Inappropriate alterations can causeinjuries!Under no circumstances should youattempt to make changes or alterationsto the heat pump or other parts of theheating and hot water system yourself. The prohibition applies to:— the heat pump,— the vicinity of the heat pump,— the supply lines for water and power. For alterations to the heat pump or its peripherals, youmust call on a qualified engineer.• Do not damage or remove seals or locking devices oncomponents. Only suitably qualified heating engineeror our customer service may remove sealed compo-nents.3 Equipment and functionaldescription3.1 Functional principleHeat pump systems consist of separate circuits in whichliquids or gases transport the heat from the heat sourceto the heating system. As these circuits operate withdiffering media (brine/water, coolant and heatingwater), they are coupled to one another by means ofheat exchangers. In these heat exchangers the heatpasses from a medium at a high temperature to amedium at a lower temperature. The Vaillant geoTHERM heat pump uses geothermalenergy or ground water as its heat source.3/4 Environmental energy 4/4 Heating energy1/4 Electrical energyFig. 3.1 Use of geothermal energy or ground water as the heatsourceThe system consists of separate circuits which are cou-pled to one another by means of heat exchangers. These circuits are:- The heat source circuit, by means of which the energyfrom the heat source is transported to the coolantcircuit.- The coolant circuit, which releases its heat to theheating water circuit by means of evaporation, com-pression, liquefaction and expansion.- The heating water circuit, which supplies the heatingand the hot water generation for the domestic hotwater cylinder.Safety instructions 2Equipment and functional description 3GB
