Vehicle features AdamQuick Reference GuideRefer to Owner’s Manual for detailed information.Illustrations may depict left-hand drive vehicles.Operation is similar for right-hand drive vehicles.Depending on the model variant, special equipmentand accessories, the scope of equipment on yourvehicle may differ from the descriptions in this guide.KTA 2746 October 2012*KTA-2746*Vehicle features Vehicle featuresUnlocking the vehicle:Press button c on remote control- or - turn key in driver’s door locktowards the front of the vehicle tounlock the doors, loadcompartment and fuel filler flap.Locking the vehicle:Close doors, load compartmentand fuel filler flap.Press button e on remote control- or - turn key in driver’s door locktowards the rear to lock the vehicle.Anti-theft alarm system:The anti-theft alarm system iscombined with the central lockingsystem and monitors doors,tailgate, bonnet and ignition.Anti-theft locking system:Press button e twice on remotecontrol within 15 seconds todeadlock all doors.Do not use the system if there arepeople in the vehicle! The doorscannot be unlocked from theinside.Electronic immobiliser:Activated automatically when keyis removed from ignition switch.1. Power windows2. Exterior mirrors3. Cruise control, speed limiter4. Light switch,headlight range adjustment,rear fog light,instrument illuminationUnlocking and opening the loadcompartment:Press button c on remote controlonce or twice (depending onsetting) to unlock the loadcompartment.Press the bottom half of the brandemblem to unlock and open thetailgate.Closing and locking the loadcompartment:Use interior handle to closetailgate.Do not push the brand emblem onthe tailgate whilst closing as thiswill unlock the tailgate again.Press button e on remote control tolock vehicle.Manual transmission:Reverse gear:With vehicle stationary, wait3 seconds after depressing clutchpedal, press release button on theselector lever and engage gear.If the gear does not engage, set thelever to neutral, release the clutchpedal and depress again; thenrepeat gear selection.Do not grind the clutchunnecessarily.When operating, depress clutchpedal fully. Do not use the pedal asa foot rest.Starting the engine: Turn key to position 1 Move steering wheel slightly torelease steering wheel lock Depress clutch pedal Do not accelerate Turn key to position 3 andreleaseAn automatic procedure operatesthe starter after a brief delay, untilthe engine is running.Before restarting, or to switch offthe engine, turn the key back toposition 0.During an Autostop, the enginecan be restarted by depressing theclutch pedal.Stop-Start system:When conditions allow, the systemswitches off the engine to save fueland reduce exhaust emissions if thevehicle is at a low speed or at astandstill, e.g. at traffic lights or in atraffic jam. It restarts the enginewhen the clutch pedal is depressed.To activate an Autostop: Depress clutch pedal Shift selector lever to neutral Release the clutch pedalAn Autostop is indicated by theneedle at the AUTOSTOP positionin the tachometer.To restart engine, select neutralthen depress the clutch pedal.Deactivate the Stop-Start systemmanually by pressing the ecobutton in the centre console.The LED in the button extinguishesto confirm deactivation.To open completely, push thesafety catch to the right and openthe bonnet.Parking brake:To release parking brake, raiselever slightly, press release buttonand lower lever fully.Always apply parking brake firmlywithout operating the releasebutton and apply as firmly aspossible on an uphill or downhillslope.To reduce the operating forces ofthe parking brake, depress thebrake pedal at the same time.Opening the bonnet:To open the bonnet, pull therelease lever located below theinstrument panel on the driver’sside.The bonnet will then be unlockedand will partially open. Returnrelease lever to its original position.Pull up bonnet support rod from itsholder and secure it in the hook onthe underside of the bonnet, on theright-hand side.If the bonnet is opened during anAutostop, the engine will berestarted automatically for safetyreasons.Closing the bonnet:Replace the bonnet support rod inits holder.Lower the bonnet and allow it todrop into the catch.Check that the bonnet is engaged.Refuelling:Before refuelling, switch off engine.Switch off any mobile phones.Fuel filler flap is located at rightrear side of vehicle.The fuel filler flap can only beopened when the vehicle isunlocked.Release the fuel filler flap bypushing the flap, then open.Turn fuel filler cap slowlyanticlockwise and remove.The fuel filler cap can be retained inthe bracket on the fuel filler flap.For refuelling, fully insert the pumpnozzle and switch it on.After the automatic cut-off, it canbe topped-up with a maximum twodoses of fuel.Wipe off any overflowing fuelimmediately.To close, replace fuel filler cap andturn clockwise until it clicks.Close the fuel filler flap andengage.Fuel for petrol engines:Use unleaded fuel meetingspecifications of DIN EN 228 orE DIN 51626-1.Fuel tank capacity(all petrol models) - 35 litres.Engine oil:Check engine oil level manually on a regular basis to prevent damage to engine. Ensure that the correctspecification of oil is used.Check with vehicle on a level surface. The tyre pressure data refers to cold tyres. It applies to summer and winter tyres.Always inflate the spare tyre to the value specified for full load.Incorrect tyre pressures will impair safety, vehicle handling, comfort and fuel economy and increase tyrewear.Warning:If the pressure is too low, this can result in considerable tyre warm-up and internal damage, leading to treadseparation and even to tyre blow-out at high speeds. |
