Whenusing a utoma tic car washes, select aprogramme which includes wax ing.Bird droppings, dead insects, resin, pollenand the like should be cleaned offimmediately , as they contain aggressiveconstituents which can cause paintdam age.If using a car w ash, comply w ith thepertinent instructions of the ca r washmanufacturer. The windsc reen w iper andrea r window wiper must be switched off –see page 14. Rem ov e d etachable rodantenna by unscrewing it.Do not use high-pressure jet cleaners.If y ou w ash y our v ehicle by hand, makesure that the insides of the wing s a re alsothoroughly rinsed out. Do not usehousehold dishwashing liquid to avoidrem ov ing wax from the paintwork.Clean edges and folds on opened doorsand flaps as well as the areas they cover.Thoroughly rinse off and leather-off thevehic le. R inse leather frequently. Useseparate lea thers for pa int a nd windowsurfaces: remnants of wa x on the windowswill impa ir vision.Also wash aluminium trim parts, av oidingthe use of abrasive materials such asautom otive or chrome polish, steam orcaustic soap. Washing with water isnormally sufficient.Observ e national regulations.WaxingWax your vehicle regularly, in pa rticularafter it has been washed using C arShampoo and at the latest when water nolonger forms bead s on the paintwork ,otherwise the p aintwork will dry out.Also wax aluminium trim parts, ed ges andfolds on op ened d oors and flaps as well a sthe areas they cov er.PolishingPolishing is necessa ry only if the paintha s b ecome dull or if solid deposits ha vebecome attached to it.Pa intwork polish with silic one form sa protective film, making wax ingunnec essary .Plastic body parts should not be treatedwith wax a nd polish.Use Metallic Paintw ork Wa x on vehic leswith a metallic-effect paint finish.WheelsUse a pH-neutral w heel c leaning agent toclean the wheels.Avoid using abrasive materials andbrushes tha t can dama ge the finish.Wheels a re painted and ca n be treatedwith the same ag ents as the body. For alloywheels we recomm end use of Alloy WheelPreserv er.Paintwork damageRepair small areas of paint damage suchas stone impac ts, scratches etc.imm ediately using a Vauxhall Touc h-upApplicator or Vauxhall S p ra y andTouch-up Paint before rust can form.If rust ha s already formed, have the c auseremedied by a workshop. Please also payattention to surfac es and edges beneaththe vehicle where rust m ay have formedunnoticed for some tim e.Exterior lightsHeadlight and other protectiv e light bezelsare made of plastic. If they requireadd itional cleaning after the vehicle hasbeen wa shed , clean them w ithC ar Shampoo. Do not use any abrasive orcaustic agents, do not use an ice scraper,and d o not clean them dry.
