Rem ove any leav es, d irt or snow.Air outletDo not cover the air outlets when stowingitem s in the luggage compartmentstow age com partments.Pollen filterThe pollen filter cleans the air entering fromoutside and filters dust, soot, pollen andspores from the interior air if the airrecirculation system 3 is active. The activ ecarbon layer 3 eliminates most odours andha rm ful a mbient ga ses from the air.Have the pollen filter repla ced a t theintervals specified in the Service Booklet.NoteIf the windscreen is m isted-up due to dampweather, tem pora rily set the sy stem asdescribed und er "Window demisting anddefrosting", see pages 122, 125.Cooling 3 works most efficiently when thewind ow s, sunroof and tilting roof 3 areclosed. If the passenger com partment hasheated up considerably after a long periodin direc t sunlight, briefly open the windows, sunroof and tilting roof 3 so tha t warm aircan escape quickly. When cooling 3 (a ir conditioningcompressor) is switched on, condensationforms, w hich is ex pelled from the und ersid eof the vehicle. At least one air vent must be open whilecooling 3 (air conditioning compressor) ison, in order to prevent the evaporator fromicing up d ue to lack of air movement.C ooling switches off automatically a t lowoutside temperatures. For trouble-free operation of the ElectronicC lim ate Control system 3, do not cov er thesensor loc ated b etween the air ventsbeneath the wind screen.MaintenanceFor consistently good operation, the a irconditioning compressor 3 must beswitched on for sev eral m inutes once permonth, regardless of the weather and thetime of year. O peration with the airconditioning compressor switched on 3 isnot possible at low outsid e temperatures. For faults, c ontact a workshop.
