The anti-freeze level must guarantee protectiondown to app rox . -28 °C. Insufficient anti-freeze will reduce the frost protection leveland the corrosion protection. If necessa ry ,add anti-freeze.If coolant loss is topped up with water, have concentration checked and ad d anti-freeze if necessary.Picture no: 17904s.tifCoolant lev elHardly a ny losses occur since the coolingsy stem is sealed , and it is thus ra relynecessary to top up the coolant. The coolant should be a little above theKALT/COLD ma rk in the expansion tankwith a cold cooling system. The coolantlevel can also be read off from the outsid eof the ex pansion tank. When the engine is at op eratingtemperature, coolant lev el rises. It fallsaga in when the system cools. If it fallsbelow the KALT/C OLD mark when thesystem is cold, top up to the mark.Top up a nti-freeze. If no anti-freeze isav ailable, top up with clean tap water. Iftap water is unavailable, distilled watercan b e used. After filling with tap water or d istilledwater, measure the anti-freezeconcentration and ad d anti-freez e ifrequired. H ave a workshop establish thecause of the coolant loss.Too low a coolant level can cause enginedam age.To close, position the cap and screw it intoplace.9 WarningAllow engine to cool down beforerem oving coolant filler cap. Rem ov ecoolant filler cap carefully so thatpressure can escape slowly, otherwisethere is a risk of scalding.
