32.1 GENERAL SAFETY1. Read and understand theOperator’s Manual and allsafety signs before supplyingpower, operating, maintaining ,adjusting or unplugging.2. Only trained, competent persons shall operate theAgri-Vac®. An untrained operator is not qualified tooperate this machine.3. Provide a first-aid kit for use incase of an accident. Store in ahighly visible place.4. Provide a fire extinguisher for use incase of an accident. Store in a highlyvisible place.5. Install and properly secure all guardsand shields before operating.6. Wear appropriate pro-tective gear. This listincludes but is not lim-ited to:- A hard hat- Protective shoeswith slip resistantsoles- Protective glasses or goggles- Heavy gloves- Wet weather gear- Hearing protection7. Turn machine OFF, shut down and lockout powersupply and wait for all moving parts to stop be-fore servicing, adjusting, maintaining, repairing,cleaning or unplugging. (Safety lockout devicesare available through your Walinga® dealer partsdepartment).8. Know the emergency medical center number foryour area.9. Wear appropriate hearing protection when operat-ing the machine.10. This manual will take youstep-by-step through your working day and alerts youto all good safety practices while operating the Agri-Vac®.Remember, YOU are the key to safety. Good safetypractices not only protect you but, also the peoplearound you. Make these practices a working part ofyour safety program. Be certain that EVERYONEoperating this machine is familiar with the proceduresrecommended and follows safety precautions.Remember, most accidents can be prevented. Donot risk injury or death by ignoring good safetypractices.• Agri-Vac® owners must give operating instructionsto operators or employees before allowing themto operate the machine, and at least annuallythereafter.• The most important safety device on this equip-ment is a SAFE operator. It is the operator’s re-sponsibility to read and understand ALL Safetyand Operating instructions in the manual and tofollow these. Most accidents can be avoided.• A person who has not read and understood all op-erating and safety instructions is not qualified tooperate this machine.
