Reference Guide 29CHAPTER 4 WebBlocker ContentWebBlocker works in conjunction with the HTTP proxy to provide content-basedURL-filtering capabilities.WebBlocker categoriesWebBlocker relies on a URL database built and maintained by SurfControl. TheFirebox automatically and regularly downloads a current version of the WebBlockerdatabase from the WatchGuard Web site to your log host. The Firebox then copies thenew version into memory. This process ensures the most up-to-date Web filteringand blocking capabilities.SurfControl constantly searches the Internet to update the list of blocked sites. TheWebBlocker database contains the following 14 categories.Alcohol/TobaccoPictures or text advocating the sale, consumption, or production of alcoholicbeverages and tobacco products.Illegal GamblingPictures or text advocating materials or activities of a dubious nature that maybe illegal in any or all jurisdictions, such as illegal business schemes, chainletters, copyright infringement, computer hacking, phreaking (usingsomeoneís phone lines without permission), and software piracy. Alsoincludes text advocating gambling relating to lotteries, casinos, betting,numbers games, online sports, or financial betting, including non-monetarydares.In all of the categories sites to be blocked are selected by advocacyrather than opinion or educational material. For example, the Drugs/Drug Culture category blocks sites describing how to grow and usemarijuana but does not block sites discussing the historical use ofmarijuana.
