18 Freedom HFS Owner’s GuideOperating in Shore Power ModeThe Freedom HFS operates in shore power mode when an ACsource (a generator or utility power) is present at the AC inputterminals. When the AC source is within operating range, theFreedom HFS unit bypasses inverter mode and powers theappliances connected to the unit. See “Transitioning from InverterMode to Shore Power” on page 22.The Freedom HFS also automatically charges the battery bank thatis connected while in shore power mode. See “Battery Charging” onpage 25.The Green status LED lights up to indicate that the Freedom HFS isusing utility (or generator) power and the battery is full. A flashingGreen LED indicates that the unit is charging the battery. When shore power is present, AC power automatically passesthrough the Freedom HFS. Pressing the Inverter Power button onthe display panel does not interrupt the supply of shore power.Shore Power mode supersedes Inverter operation. When the Freedom HFS’s Inverter Power button is turned ON andthe AC source is outside the operating range or is disconnected, thetransfer switch automatically switches to inverter operation.
