975-0727-01-01 19Operating in Inverter ModeThe Freedom HFS is in inverter operation (operating in invertermode) when all the following conditions exist:• inverter power button is ON• inverter mode setting is ON• shore power is not presently available• battery has sufficient powerInverter operation means that DC battery power is presently beingconverted to utility grade AC power, powering equipment andappliances connected to the AC output terminal of the unit. The Yellow status LED lights up to indicate the Freedom HFS isusing the battery to power the equipment and appliances.Turning Inverter Operation ON and OFFThe Inverter Power button on the display panel turns the FreedomHFS’s inverter operation ON or OFF.◆ Press the button and hold for one second.Turning the Inverter mode setting to OFF and/or turning theInverter Power button off does not disconnect DC battery powerfrom the Freedom HFS. You must disconnect both AC and DCpower before working on any circuits connected to the unit.To prevent unnecessary battery discharge, turn the Inverter Powerbutton off when you are not using the Freedom HFS.Power Save FeatureThe Power Save feature is a 25-hour countdown that automaticallyshuts down inverter operation to reduce battery discharge andpreserve battery life. During continuous inverter operation, a 25-hour countdown is initiated when power from the AC load drops toless than approximately 50 watts and remains below this level. After25 hours the inverter automatically shuts down.To enable this feature the inverter mode setting must be set to“”. See “To change the inverter mode setting:” on page 12.ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARDFailure to follow these instructions can result in death or seriousinjury.Freedom HFS IC Owners Guide.book Page 19 Friday, September 11, 2015 2:54 PM
