Additional securitybeyond this remains the responsibility of the customer.Xeroxis constantly evaluating the security of the DocuSP controllerand the Sun Solaris operating system. Xerox is committed toproviding the latest Solaris security patches provided by SunMicrosystems in each major DocuSP release. The DocuSPdevelopment team will also add Solaris security patches inbetween major release cycles. All OS security patches forapplications that are added during a DocuSP install will beincluded, even if the application code is not normally used byDocuSP users. Security patches for applications that are notloaded by a DocuSP install will not be evaluated or included.Only the version of a patch impacting security will beincluded. If a security patch has a newer version that is notsecurity related, then this patch will not be updated to thenewer version. Any security patch that is determined to havea negative impact to DocuSP operation will not be added.Customer responsibilitiesThe administrator has the primary responsibility formaintaining the security of the network within the customerssite. It is important that network security is continuouslymonitored and maintained, and that appropriate securitypolicies are established and followed. The procedures outlined in this document assume a basicknowledge of UNIX, the vi editor, and general computingconcepts. It is expected that the network administrator orsystem administrator responsible for network securityunderstands the base commands (cd, chmod, cp, grep, kill,ln, ls, man, more, ps, etc.), and the UNIX directory path andfilename structures shown in this document. There is information within the text and in the appendixsections for reference to those who may not use UNIX often.
