37FT-2900E O PERATING M ANUALMEMORY O PERATIONM EMORY BANK OPERATIONThe large number of memories available in the FT-2900E could be difficult to utilize with-out some means of organizing them. Fortunately, the FT-2900E includes provision fordividing the memories into as many as eight Memory Banks, so you can categorize thememories in a manner convenient to you. You may enter and exit the “Memory Bank”mode by a single press of the Microphone’s [½] key, as we shall see below.Assigning Memories to a Memory Bank1. Recall the memory channel to be assigned to a MemoryBank.2. Press and hold in the [D/MR(MW)] key for one second, thenrotate the DIAL knob to select the Memory Bank number (“b1b1b1b1b1” ~ “b8b8b8b8b8”) you want as theMemory Bank for this channel. The Memory Bank numbersare found by rotating the DIAL knob counter-clockwise pastmemory channel “0.”3. Press the [D/MR(MW)] key momentarily to copy the memory channel data into theMemory Bank.1) You may assign one memory channel into several Memory Banks.2) The PMS memory channels (L0/U0 through L9/U9) may not be assigned to aMemory Bank.Memory Bank Recall1. Press the [D/MR(MW)] key, if needed, to enter the Memory mode.2. Press the Microphone’s [½] key to activate the “MemoryBank” mode. The Memory Bank number will appear onthe display.3. Press the [#] key to increment the Memory Bank (“b1b1b1b1b1”through “b8b8b8b8b8”).4. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the memories within theselected Bank; you will observe that you can only selectmemory channels in the current memory bank. The smallmemory bank number will appear, to the right of the fre-quency display, two seconds after you complete memorychannel selection while operating within a Memory Bank.5. To change to another Memory Bank, press the [#] key tostep up to the next-highest bank.6. To exit from Memory Bank operation, just press theMicrophone’s [½] key. The Memory Channel number willappear steadily on the right side of the display, indicating thatyou are now in the “standard” Memory Recall mode, withoututilization of the Memory Banks. The memories stored in the various Banks will remain inthose banks, however; you do not need to store them again.
