Also,put the shift control in Neutral, put themain switch in the OFF position andremove the key, and remove the lan-yard from the engine stop switch. Turnoff the battery cut-off switch if yourboat has one.8 Do not use your hand to hold the pro-peller when loosening or tightening thepropeller nut. Put a wood blockbetween the cavitation plate and thepropeller to prevent the propeller fromturning.8 After completing your work, be sure tosecurely reconnect the ignition cablesin their proper positions.210012602051602054EMU00390Propeller Checking Point8 Check each of the propeller blades forwear, erosion from cavitation or ventila-tion, or other damage.8 Check the splines for wear and damage.8 Check for fish line winding around thepropeller shaft.8 Check the propeller shaft oil seal fordamage.
