If there is afuel joint on the outboard motor, discon-nect the fuel line or close the fuel cock ifthe engine will be tilted for more than afew minutes. Otherwise fuel may leak.CAUTION:ECM00241 Before tilting the outboard motor, stopthe engine by following the procedureon page 40. Never tilt the outboard mo-tor while the engine is running. Severedamage from overheating can result. Do not tilt up the engine by pushing thetiller handle (if equipped) because thiscould break the handle.EMU28007Procedure for tilting up (power trimand tilt models / power tilt models)1. Place the remote control lever / gearshift lever in neutral.2. Disconnect the fuel line from the out-board motor or close the fuel cock.3.
