INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS3-243To increase the spring preload andthereby harden the suspension, turnthe adjusting ring in direction (a). To de-crease the spring preload and therebysoften the suspension, turn the adjust-ing ring in direction (b). Align the appropriate notch in theadjusting ring with the position in-dicator on the shock absorber. Use the special wrench and theextension bar included in the own-er’s tool kit to make the adjust-ment.Rebound damping forceTo increase the rebound damping forceand thereby harden the rebound damp-ing, turn the adjusting screw in direction(a). To decrease the rebound dampingforce and thereby soften the rebounddamping, turn the adjusting screw in di-rection (b).TIPTo obtain a precise adjustment, it is ad-visable to check the actual total numberof clicks or turns of the damping forceadjusting mechanism. This adjustmentrange may not exactly match the spec-ifications listed due to small differencesin production.WARNINGEWA10221This shock absorber assembly con-tains highly pressurized nitrogengas. Read and understand the fol-lowing information before handlingthe shock absorber assembly. Do not tamper with or attempt toopen the cylinder assembly. Do not subject the shock ab-sorber assembly to an openflame or other high heat source. This may cause the unit to ex-plode due to excessive gaspressure. Do not deform or damage thecylinder in any way. Cylinderdamage will result in poordamping performance.Spring preload setting:Minimum (soft):1Standard:3Maximum (hard):71.
