MSP5A—Owner’s manual 3EnglishThank you for purchasing Yamaha MSP5A monitor speaker. The MSP5A features a compact bassreflex cabinet, with 12 cm two-way cone speaker and 2.5 cm titanium dome speaker. Thispowered bi-amplifier speaker system faithfully reproduces sound and can be used for a widerange of applications, from personal home recordings to serious professional use. Please readthis Owner’s Manual thoroughly to make the best use of the MSP5A’s quality functions for a longperiod of time.PRECAUTIONSPLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING* Please keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.WARNINGAlways follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury or even death from electricalshock, short-circuiting, damages, fire or other hazards. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:• Only use the voltage specified as correct for the device. The required voltage isprinted on the name plate of the device.• Do not place the power cord near heat sources such as heaters or radiators, anddo not excessively bend or otherwise damage the cord, place heavy objects onit, or place it in a position where anyone could walk on, trip over, or roll anythingover it.• Do not open the device or attempt to disassemble the internal parts or modifythem in any way. The device contains no user-serviceable parts. If it shouldappear to be malfunctioning, discontinue use immediately and have it inspectedby qualified Yamaha service personnel.• Do not expose the device to rain, use it near water or in damp or wet conditions,or place containers on it containing liquids which might spill into any openings.• Never insert or remove an electric plug with wet hands.• If the power cord or plug becomes frayed or damaged, or if there is a suddenloss of sound during use of the device, or if any unusual smells or smokeshould appear to be caused by it, immediately turn off the power switch,disconnect the electric plug from the outlet, and have the device inspected byqualified Yamaha service personnel.• If this device should be dropped or damaged, immediately turn off the powerswitch, disconnect the electric plug from the outlet, and have the deviceinspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.CAUTIONAlways follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical injury to you or others, or damageto the device or other property. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:• Remove the electric plug from the outlet when the device is not to be used forextended periods of time, or during electrical storms.• When removing the electric plug from the device or an outlet, always hold theplug itself and not the cord. Pulling by the cord can damage it.• Always consult qualified Yamaha service personnel if the device installationrequires construction work, and then choose mounting hardware and aninstallation location that can support the weight of the device, avoiding locationsthat are exposed to constant vibration, and making sure to use the specifiedhardware. After construction or installation, have the device inspected byqualified Yamaha service personnel periodically.• If you use a stand, check the stand’s specifications and make sure that it issturdy enough to support the weight of the speaker.
