4 MSP5A—Owner’s manual• Do not expose the device to excessive dust or vibrations, or extreme cold or heat(such as in direct sunlight, near a heater) to prevent the possibility of paneldisfiguration or damage to the internal components.• Do not place the device in an unstable position where it might accidentally fallover.• Do not block the vents. This device has ventilation holes at the rear to preventthe internal temperature from rising too high. In particular, do not place it in anypoorly-ventilated location, such as a bookcase or closet.• Do not place the device against a wall or other devices since this can causeinadequate air circulation, and possibly result in the device overheating. Makesure there is adequate space between the device and any surrounding wall orother devices: at least 5 cm at the sides, 10 cm behind and 10 cm above.• Before connecting the device to other devices, turn off the power for all devices.Before turning the power on or off for all devices, set all volume levels tominimum.• Avoid inserting or dropping foreign objects (paper, plastic, metal, etc.) into thebass reflex ports (the two holes on the front of the cabinet). If this happens, turnoff the power immediately and unplug the power cord from the AC outlet. Thenhave the device inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.• Do not use the device for a long period of time at a high or uncomfortablevolume level, since this can cause permanent hearing loss. If you experienceany hearing loss or ringing in the ears, consult a physician.• Do not operate the device if the sound is distorting.
