Keep it in a safe place for futurereference.• Install this unit in a well ventilated, cool, dry, cleanplace - away from direct sunlight, heat sources,vibration, dust, moisture, and/or cold. For properventilation, allow the following minimumclearances (excludes a TV placed on top of thisunit).Top: 5 cm (2 in), Rear: 5 cm (2 in), Sides: 5 cm(2 in)• Locate this unit away from other electricalappliances, motors, or transformers to avoidhumming sounds.• Do not expose this unit to sudden temperaturechanges from cold to hot, and do not locate thisunit in an environment with high humidity (i.e. aroom with a humidifier) to prevent condensationinside this unit, which may cause an electricalshock, fire, damage to this unit, and/or personalinjury.• Avoid installing this unit where foreign objectsmay fall onto this unit and/or this unit may beexposed to liquid dripping or splashing. On the topof this unit, do not place:− Other components, as they may cause damageand/or discoloration on the surface of this unit.− Burning objects (i.e. candles), as they may causefire, damage to this unit, and/or personal injury.− Containers with liquid in them, as they may falland liquid may cause electrical shock to the userand/or damage to this unit.• Do not cover this unit with a newspaper,tablecloth, curtain, etc., in order not to obstructheat radiation. If the temperature inside this unitrises, it may cause fire, damage to this unit, and/orpersonal injury.• Do not plug in this unit to a wall outlet until allconnections are complete.• Do not operate this unit upside-down. It mayoverheat, possibly causing damage.• Do not use force on switches, knobs and/or cords.• When disconnecting the power cable from the walloutlet, grasp the plug; do not pull the cable.• Do not clean this unit with chemical solvents; thismight damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth.• Only voltage specified on this unit must be used.Using this unit with a higher voltage than specifiedis dangerous and may cause fire, damage to thisunit, and/or personal injury. Yamaha will not beheld responsible for any damage resulting from useof this unit with a voltage other than specified.• To prevent damage by lightning, keep the powercable and outdoor antennas disconnected from awall outlet or the unit during a lightning storm.• Do not attempt to modify or fix this unit. Contactqualified Yamaha service personnel when anyservice is needed. The cabinet should never beopened for any reasons.• When not planning to use this unit for long periodsof time (i.e. vacation), disconnect the AC powerplug from the wall outlet.• Be sure to read the “Troubleshooting” section oncommon operating errors before concluding thatthis unit is faulty.• Before moving this unit, press to set this unit instandby mode, and disconnect the power supplycable from the wall outlet.• Condensation will form when the surroundingtemperature changes suddenly. Disconnect thepower supply cable from the outlet, then leave theunit alone.• Install this unit near the wall outlet and where theAC power plug can be reached easily.• The batteries shall not be exposed to excessiveheat such as sunshine, fire or like.• Secure placement or installation is the owner’sresponsibility. Yamaha shall not be liable for anyaccident caused by improper placement orinstallation of speakers.Notes on remote controls and batteries• Do not spill water or other liquids on the remotecontrol.• Do not drop the remote control.• Do not leave or store the remote control in thefollowing places:− places of high humidity, such as near a bath− places of high temperatures, such as near aheater or a stove− places of extremely low temperatures− dusty places• Do not expose the remote control sensor of thisunit to direct sunlight or lighting such as invertedfluorescent lamps.• If the batteries grow old, the effective operationrange of the remote control decreasesconsiderably. If this happens, replace the batterieswith two new ones as soon as possible.• Do not use old batteries together with new ones.• Do not use different types of batteries (such asalkaline and manganese batteries) together. Readthe packaging carefully as these different types ofbatteries may have the same shape and color.• Exhausted batteries may leak. If the batteries haveleaked, dispose of them immediately. Avoidtouching the leaked material or letting it come intocontact with clothing, etc. Clean the batterycompartment thoroughly before installing newbatteries.• Do not carry batteries in a pocket or purse withmetal objects like coins, etc.• Do not throw away batteries with general housewaste. Dispose of them correctly in accordancewith your local regulations.• Keep batteries away from children. If a battery isaccidentally swallowed, contact your doctorimmediately.• When not planning to use the remote control forlong periods of time, remove the batteries from theremote control.• Do not charge or disassemble the suppliedbatteries.FOR U.K. CUSTOMERSIf the socket outlets in the home are not suitable forthe plug supplied with this appliance, it should be cutoff and an appropriate 3 pin plug fitted.
