PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT7-157EAU46251Adjusting the clutch free playThe clutch free play must be checkedand, if necessary, adjusted as followsat the intervals specified in the periodicmaintenance and lubrication chart.1. Remove the clutch adjustingscrew cover by removing thescrews.2. Loosen the locknut.3. Slowly turn the clutch adjustingscrew in direction (a) until resis-tance is felt, and then turn it 1/8turn in direction (b).4. Tighten the locknut to the specifiedtorque.TIPWhen tightening the locknut, hold theclutch adjusting screw with a screwdriv-er so that it does not turn together withthe locknut.5. Install the clutch adjusting screwcover by installing the screws.EAU22131Adjusting the brake lever freeplayThe brake lever free play should mea-sure 10.0–20.0 mm (0.39–0.79 in) asshown. Periodically check the brake le-ver free play and, if necessary, adjust itas follows.To increase the brake lever free play,turn the brake lever free play adjustingnut at the brake shoe plate in direction(a).
