Put the supplied cutout template to the ceiling and draw a circle by tracing it.Make sure to use the cutout template so that hole is the correct diameter. If you use a circular cutter, set the diameter using the cutout template.2. Cut the hole by tracing the circle.1. Pull the wiring from the power amplifier through the cut hole of the ceiling.2. Insert the cable into each terminal.Insert the cable while holding the lever, and when fully inserted, releaseyour finger from the lever to securely connect.(Lever operation is not required for solid core wire.)Make sure that the cables cannot be pulled out.NOTEThe example illustrations in this manual are of the VC4NB.CAUTIONBe careful not to hurt your hands when handling this product.NOTICEWhen installing the speakers, turn off the power amplifier.NOTEDo not plate core wires by soldering if the cable uses stranded wire.Doing so will cause the wire to break.Cut Out a Hole in the CeilingCAUTIONWear goggles to prevent chips or powder entering your eyeswhile cutting the hole. When the included Reinforcing Bracket Kit or AB-C2 (soldseparately) is usedFor the VC8NB, VC8NW, VC6NB, and VC6NW, the includedReinforcing Bracket Kit must be used. For the VC4NB and VC4NW, follow the instructions when using the AB-C2.1. Insert the two tile rails through the cut hole and place them on theceiling surface within your reach. Adjust their length and be sure thateach of the tile rails are oriented as shown below.2. Use the opening in the C-ring to slide one section of the C-Ring intothe cut hole, continuing to slide it around until the C-ring iscompletely inside the ceiling.3. Secure the C-ring and tile rails with the supplied two screws througheither slot of both C-ring brackets.About 8-9 mmCompatible cable:Min. AWG18 (0.75 sq)Max. From the hole on the top of the dust-proof cover, attach the safety wireto the safety wire ring, and connect the wire to an independent supportpoint, such as a joist.2. Push the speaker slowly up into the ceiling, taking care not to trap thespeaker cable or safety wire.3. While lifting up the speaker, turn the screwdriver clockwise to tighten theattachment screw. The first turn of the attachment screw opens the clamp. Further turnsmove the clamp down the channel to pull the speaker up into the ceiling. When the clamp is difficult to open, turning the screwdriver halfwaycounterclockwise once will make it easier to open the clamp.Select the line voltage/impedance (100 V, 70 V, 16 Ω) and power tap for a100 V, 70 V line distributed system, by rotating the tap selector switch onthe front side of the speaker with a flat-blade screwdriver. When using the speaker with high-impedance connection, select theposition where wattage is indicated by the line (100 V, 70 V). Do not selectthe “ × ” setting when connecting to a 100 V line. When using it with low impedance connection, select the 16 Ω position.1. Align the grille with the cabinet’sface and fit them together.2. Turn clockwise (approx. 30°) tosecure the grille.Fix the Speaker onto the CeilingCAUTIONAlways take measures to prevent the speaker from fallingdown. If the safety wire is too short, prepare another wire appropri-ate for the speaker weight and installation conditions.NOTICEDo not over-tighten the attachment screws. Otherwise, the attachmentscrews and clamps will break.3Safty wire ringSafety wireSafety wireSpeaker cableSafety wireSpeaker cable(VC4NB, VC4NW, VC6NB,VC6NW, VC8NB, VC8NW)When the included ReinforcingBracket Kit or AB-C2 (soldseparately; VC4NB andVC4NW only) is used.(VC4NB, VC4NW)When the AB-C2 ReinforcingBracket Kit (sold separately)is not used.AttachmentscrewClampRemoving from the Ceiling1. While pressing the speaker against the ceiling, loosen theattachment screws by turning them counterclockwise.Loosen the screw and the clamp goes up, and as it reaches the top,the clamp closes as shown in figure below.2. Remove the safety wire from the speaker that is detached from theceiling.Set the Line Voltage/Impedance and PowerNOTICE• Make sure the amplifier is switched off before operating the tap selectorswitch.• If the setting is incorrect, it may cause malfunction of the speaker andamplifier.Attach the GrilleCAUTION• If the grille is not sufficiently turned, it may fall off. Sufficientlyturn the grille, until the fastening sections of the grille andspeaker are securely engaged.• If the ceiling material is soft, the baffle surface may sink intothe ceiling material due to overtightening of the attachmentscrews, and the grill may not fit properly.Clamp4The illustration indicates the setting at 6 W for a100 V line and 3 W for a 70 V line.100V1.53 6XX 16TAPSELECTOR70V0.81.5 36X5SPEAKER SYSTEMVC8NB VC8NW VC6NB VC6NW VC4NB VC4NWOwner’s ManualENEnglishVEY4250NOTICETo avoid the possibility of malfunction/damage tothe product or damage to other property, followthe notices below. Handling and maintenance• Do not expose the product to excessive dust orvibration, or extreme cold or heat, in order toprevent the possibility of panel disfiguration, unstable operation, or damage to the internalcomponents.• Be sure to observe the amplifier’s rated loadimpedance, particularly when connectingspeakers in parallel at low impedance.Connecting an impedance load outside theamplifier's rated range can damage theamplifier.• When using a high-impedance speakerconnection, make sure the audio signal ispassed through an 60 Hz or above high-passfilter before being input to the speakers.• Do not touch the speaker driver unit, since itmight cause malfunction.• Do not place vinyl, plastic or rubber objects onthe product, since this might cause alterationor discoloration of the panel.• When cleaning the product, use a dry and softcloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, or chemical-impregnatedwiping cloths, since this might cause alterationor discoloration.• Protection CircuitThis speaker system has an internal protectioncircuit that shuts off the speaker unit when anexcessive input signal is applied. If thespeaker unit emits no sound, reduce thevolume level of the amplifier immediately. (Thesound will return automatically in severalseconds.)• Do not place the speaker face down with thegrille attached, as deformation of the grille mayresult.• When placing the baffle face down, alwaysplace it on a flat surface.Information About this manual• The illustrations as shown in this manual are forinstructional purposes only.• The company names and product names inthis manual are the trademarks or registeredtrademarks of their respective companies.
