Thedevice may accidentally fall over, resulting in damageand/or injur y.• Do not use the speaker's handles f or suspendedinstal lation. Doing so can resu lt in damage or injury• Do not hold the bottom of the device when transportingor moving it. In doing so. you may pinch your handsunder th e device , and result in injury.• Do not place the device in a location where it may comeinto contact with corrosive gases or salt a iF. Doing somay resu lt in malfunction• Before moving the device, remove all connected cables• Always consult qualified Yamaha service personnel ifthe device installation requires construction work, andmake su re to observe the following precautions.- Choose mounting hardware and an installationlocation that can support the weight of the device-Avo id locations that are exposed to constant vibration- Use the required tools to install the device.- Inspect the device periodically.Conne ct ions• Before connecting the device to other devices, turn offthe power for all devices. Before turn ing the power on oroff for all devices, set al l volume levels to minimum.• Use only speaker cables. Use of other types of cablesmay res u lt in fireHandling caution• Do not insert your fingers or hands in any gaps oropenings on the device.• Do not rest your weight on the device or place heavyobjects on it, and avoid use excessive force on thebuttons, switches or connectors.• Do not use the speakers for a long period of time ata hig h or uncomfortable volume level. since th is cancause permanent hearing loss. If you experience anyhearing loss or ringing in the ears, consult a physic ian.• Do not operate the device if the sound is distorting.Pro longed use in this condition could cause overheatingand result in fi re• When choosing a power amp lif ier for use with thisdevice, make su re that the output power of t he amplifieris lower than the power capacity of this device. Ifthe output power is higher than th e power capacity, malfunction or l ire may occur.• Do not input excessively loud signals that may result inclipping in the amplifier or cause the following:- Feedback, when us ing a microphone- Continuous and extremely loud sound from a musicalinstrument, etc.- Continuous and extremely loud distorted sound- Noise caused by plugging/unplugging the cable whilethe amplifier is turned onEven if the output power of the amplifier is lower thanthe power capacity of this device (program). damage tothe device, malfunction or lire may occur.Yamaha cannot be held responsible for damage causedby improper use or modifications to the device. or datathat is lost or destroyed(PA-4)NOTICETo avoid the possibi lity of malfunction/damage to theproduct, damage to data, or damage to other property, follow the notices below.Handling and Ma intenance• Do not expose the device to excessive dust or vib ration,or extreme cold or heat (such as in direct sunl ight , neara heater, or in a car during the day), in order to preventthe possibility of panel disfiguration. unstable operat ion.or damage to the internal components• Do not place vi n yl, plastic or rubber objects on thedevice, since this might discolor th e panel• When cleaning the device, use a dry and soft cloth.Do not us e paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, orchemical- im pregnated wiping cloths.• Condensation can occur in the device due to rapid ,drastic changes in ambient temperature-when thedevice is moved f rom one location to another, or airconditioning is turned on or off, fo r example. Usingthe device while condensation is present can causedamage. If there is reason to believe th at condensationmight have occurred, leave the device for several hoursun til the condensation has completely dried out.• When turning on the AC power in your audio system, always turn on the power amplifier LAS T, to avoidspeaker damage. When turning the power off, thepower amplifier should be turned o ff FIRST for the samereason• Be sure to observe the power amp lifier's rated loadimpedance , particularly when connecting speakers inparallel. Connecting an impedance load outside theamplifier's rated range can damage the power amplif ier.• Protective CircuitAl l full -range loudspeakers are fitted with a sel f-resettingpoly switch that protects the high-frequency driver fromdamage caused by excessive power. If a loudspeakercabinet loses high-frequency output, immediatelyremove power from the power amplifier and wait for twoto three minutes. This should be long enough to allowthe poly switch to reset. Reapply power and checkthe performance of the high-frequency dr iver beforecontinu ing, with the power reduced to a level that doesnot cause the poly switch to interrupt the signal• Air blowing out of the bass reflex ports is normal, andoften occurs wh en the speaker is handling programmaterial with heavy bass content.Connectors• Use on ly Neutrik speakON plugs (NL4) for connectingspeakON connectors.Controls and ConnectorsRear+----=~----+--+- Pullback point (MS screw hole)~g~~~~~~~ (only for CBR15 and CBR12)speakON connector (compatible withNeutrik NL4)BottomThe phone jacks and the speakON con nectorsare provided for connection to power amplifiersor powered mixers, etc. with speaker cables .NoteUse cab les special ly des i gned for speakers .Using cables for mus ical instrumen ts could causeoverheating and result in firer-+-----+-r-+......;-i-ii+-- Screw holes (MS)Use these MB size screw holes for insta ll ingseparately sold brackets or commerciallyavailable eye bolts.L..~+--¥.---,!....-,'__;!!--- Pole socketThis socket adapts to commerciallyavai lable speaker stands and speakerpoles of 35 mm diameter.ConnectionWiringMake sure to wire the plugs as shown be low.I Phone plug~eI Parallel connection of speakersThe signals of the phone jack and speakON connector are connected in paralle l. The first CBR receivesthe signal f rom an amplifier (such as a power amplifier, a powered mixer, etc.) with the phone jack or thespeakON connector, and routes the signal to the second CBR. When connec ti ng CB Rs in parallel, be sure tocheck the load impedance the amplifier can drive. The nominal impedance of one CBR is eight ohms and thetotal impedance of two parallel connected CBRs is four ohms. In this case , the amplif ie r must be ab le to driveless than four ohm load impedance.Am plifi er Th efirst CBR(Impedance: 80 ):···········rn····-···-.: -m::l=x>+ @I :,: or I I ~ :'-. -=IOJ+ ~ :' ',___ ___ ______ ________ )The second CBR(Im pe dance: 8 0)Pa rallel connection (t otal im pedanc e: 4 0)Invalid connectionDo not connect the input fromthe amplifier to both the phonejack and the speakON connectorsi multaneously.
