Periodic maintenance and adjustment7-167EAU48322Spoke wheelsWARNINGEWA10611The wheels on this model are notdesigned for use with tubeless tires.Do not attempt to use tubeless tireson this model.To maximize the performance, durabil-ity, and safe operation of your motor-cycle, note the following pointsregarding the specified wheels. The wheel rims should bechecked for cracks, bends, warp-age or other damage and thespokes for looseness or damagebefore each ride. If any damage isfound, have a Yamaha dealer re-place the wheel. Do not attempteven the smallest repair to thewheel. A deformed or crackedwheel must be replaced. The wheel should be balancedwhenever either the tire or wheelhas been changed or replaced. Anunbalanced wheel can result inpoor performance, adverse han-dling characteristics, and a short-ened tire life.EAU65775Adjusting the clutch lever freeplayMeasure the clutch lever free play asshown.Periodically check the clutch lever freeplay and, if necessary, adjust it.To increase the clutch lever free play,turn the clutch lever free play adjusterin direction (a). To decrease the clutchlever free play, turn the adjuster in di-rection (b).TIPIf the specified clutch lever free playcannot be obtained as describedabove, proceed as follows.1. Fully turn the adjuster in direction(a) to loosen the clutch cable.2. Slide the rubber cover and clutchlever free play adjuster back fur-ther down the clutch cable, andthen loosen the locknut.3. To increase the clutch lever freeplay, turn the clutch lever free playadjusting bolt in direction (a). Todecrease the clutch lever freeplay, turn the adjusting bolt in di-rection (b).1.
