When you are draining thefuel tank to perform maintenance, put anapproved container under the openingto catch the fuel. NEVER use a shop ragto catch the fuel. Vapors from the rag areflammable and explosive. Wipe up anyspills immediately. Wear eye protection.The fuel system is under pressure andfuel could spray out when you removeany fuel system component.1. Open the drain cock and drain waterand sediment. Close the drain cockwhen the fuel is clean and free of water.Draining the Fuel Filter / WaterSeparatorWARNING! When removing any fuelsystem component to performmaintenance (such as changing the fuelfilter), put an approved container underthe opening to catch the fuel. NEVERuse a shop rag to catch the fuel. Close the fuel cock.2. Put a pan under the fuel / waterseparator.3. Remove the fuel filter cover and drainany water and dirt collected inside.4.
