27GB3. Operation3.3.2 How to Start the Engine(1) Start the engine according to thefollowing procedures:Electric Operation1. Open the Kingston cock.2. Open the fuel tank cock.3. Set the remote control lever inNEUTRAL.Safety equipment Option makes itimpossible to start the engine in anyother position than NEUTRAL.4. Turn on the battery switch.5. Insert the key into the key switch andturn the key to ON. If the alarm buzzersounds and alarm lamps come on, thealarm devices are normal.Note: The cooling water temp. warninglamp does not come on.(See 2.5.1.(4))6. Turn the key switch to start the engine.Release the key switch when theengine has started. The alarm buzzershould stop and the alarm lamps go out.NOTICEOFFGLOW ONSTART OFF position ON positionSTART position GLOW position(2) Starting Under Low TemperatureConditionsWhen starting the engine under difficultlow temperature conditions (approximately0°C or lower), use the air heater to enableeasier starting.OptionDo not leave the air heater on forlonger than 20 seconds at a time.Leaving the air heater on for longerperiods of time will result in damage.Follow steps 1~4 of the above procedure,and then follow the steps below:5. Turn the key from the OFF position toGLOW. Continue to hold the key in theGLOW position to allow the air heater towarm up the engine.6. Turn the key to START and start theengine. After the engine starts, removeyour hand from the key.(3) Restarting After Starting FailureBefore turning the key switch again, besure to confirm that the engine has stop-ped completely. If the engine is restartedwhile the engine still has not stopped, thepinion gear of the starter motor will bedamaged. When the engine will not startafter several attempts, check the fuelsystem. If there is air in the fuel system,the fuel will not be fed and starting will notbe possible.After bleeding air from the system, attemptto restart the engine. See 3.2.2Turn the key for a maximum of 15seconds in the start position.
