7SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWERRemoving Unit From Carton• Remove staples, break glue on top flaps, or cuttape at carton end and peel along top flap to open.• Remove loose parts included with unit (i.e.,operator’s manual, oil, etc.).• Cut corners and lay carton down flat. Removepacking material.• Roll or slide unit out of carton. Check cartonthoroughly for loose parts.NOTE: Make sure not to crimp cables while removingloose parts or the entire unit from the carton.Tools Required• Pair of Pliers• Funnel• Set of adjustable wrenchesNOTE: Reference to right or left hand side of the mowerand/or front or behind the mower is observed from theoperating position.Hardware PackPlease identify each piece of the hardware pack asshown in Figure 1 .Figure 1Disconnecting Spark Plug• Before setting up your lawn mower, disconnect thespark plug wire from the spark plug, and ground itagainst the engine. See Figure 2 .• Attach the spark plug wire to a bolt on the engine toground it.Figure 2Assembling Handle• Remove grass bag from the unit and set it out of theway. See Figure 3 (step 1).• Remove any packing material which may bebetween the upper and lower handles for shippingpurposes.Figure 3• Raise the lower handle in the direction shown inFigure 3 (step 2) till it snaps into place.• Raise the upper handle in the direction shown inFigure 3 (step 3). Tighten the wing nuts which arealready on the handle. See Figure 4 .Figure 4NOTE: Make sure to route the cables inside the lowerhandle.
