maINTeNaNCe40Safety SystemThis machine is equipped with a safety systemthat prevents starting or driving under the followingconditions.The engine can only be started when:The mower deck is disengaged.1.The steering controls are in the outer, locked2.neutral position.The parking brake is on.3.Make daily inspections to ensure that the safetysystem works by attempting to start the enginewhen one of the conditions is not met. Change theconditions and try again.If the machine starts when one of these conditionsis not met, turn the machine off and repair the safetysystem before using the machine again.Make sure the engine stops when the park brakeis not engaged and the operator leaves the seatedposition.Check that the engine stops if the mower blades areengaged and the driver temporarily moves off thedriver's seat.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONTo be able to drive, the driver must sit in theseat and release the parking brake beforethe steering controls can be moved into theneutral position, otherwise the engine willstop.8065-021Conditions for startingFuel FilterReplace the line-mounted fuel filter every 100 hours(once per season) or more often if it becomesclogged.Move the hose clamps away from the filter. Use1.flat-nosed pliers.Pull the filter loose from the hose ends.2.Check hoses for brittleness or damage. Replace3.if necessary.Push the new filter into the hose ends. Position4.the filter with the FLoW arrow pointing towardthe fuel pump. If necessary, a soap solution canbe applied to the filter ends to ease mounting.Move the hose clamps back toward the filter.5.8065-026Fuel filterTire PressuresFill tire pressures to 15 psi / 103 kPa / 1 bar. IMPORTANT INFORMATIONDO NOT add any type of tire liner or foamfill material to the drive tires. Excessiveloads created by foam filled tires will causepremature failures.Only use O.E.M. specified tires.
