Protect your handswith gloves and/or wrap blades witha heavy cloth when handling.WARNING!Before performing any service or adjustment checklist:1. Engage the parking brake.2. Place the Blade switch in the disengaged position.3. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and remove the key.4. Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.5. Disconnect the spark plug wire from all spark plugs and place the wire where it cannotcome in contact with the plug.Leveling DeckAdjust the deck while the mower is on a levelsurface. Make sure the tires are inflated to the correctpressure. See Tire Pressures in Maintenance section.If tires are under or over inflated, the deck cannot beproperly adjusted. Faulty mower deck adjustments willcause an uneven mowing result.Four bolts control the height and pitch of the mowerdeck. The deck should be adjusted slightly higher inthe rear.NoTE: To insure accuracy of leveling procedure,mower deck drive belt must be installed prior toleveling the deck.Wear heavy gloves. Turn each outer blade tip to1.align the deck in a side-to-side manner.Measure from the floor surface up to the bottom2.of the blade tip on the discharge side of themower deck. Retain this measurement. Move tothe opposite side; check that measurement isthe same. If adjustment is required, loosen thelocknut and adjust bolt up until both side-to-sidemeasurements are equal. Retain measurement.Turn both outer blades to align with the deck in3.front-to-rear manner. Reposition rear mountingbolts up or down until rear blade tips arepositioned 1/8" to 3/8" higher in the rear than thefront blade tips.Confirm measurements once again. Blade tip4.height should be equal in a side-to-side manner.In the rear, blade tips should be 1/8" to 3/8" higherthan the front measurement. In the front, bladetips should be equal from side-to-side.NoTE: This will place the mower deck in a basemeasurement position.
