231maINTeNaNCe40IMPORTANT INFORMATIONThe sharpening of blades should be carriedout by an authorized service workshop.Cutting BladesTo attain the best mowing effect, it is important thatthe blades are well sharpened and not damaged.Bent or cracked blades or blades with large nicksshould be replaced.Blades damaged from hitting obstacles that resultin a breakdown should be replaced. The serviceworkshop should decide whether the blade can berepaired/ground or must be replaced. Balance theblades after sharpening.Check the blade mounts.WARNING!Blades are sharp. Protect yourhands with gloves and/or wrapblades with a heavy cloth whenhandling.Blade ReplacementRemove blade bolt by turning counterclockwise.1.Install new or re-sharpened blade with stamped2.“GRASS SIDE” facing towards ground/grass(down) or “THIS SIDE UP” facing deck andcutter housing.Install and tighten blade bolt securely.3.Torque blade bolt to 45-55 ft-lbs (60-75 Nm).4.1. Place the Blade switch in the disengaged position.3. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and remove the key.4. Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.5. Disconnect the spark plug wire from all spark plugs and place the wire where it cannotcome in contact with the plug.
