Connect the Ethernet cable between the Internet port on the IP phone and anavailable port on the in-line power switch/hub.NoteInitialization Process OverviewThe initialization process of the IP phone is responsible for network connectivity andoperation of the IP phone in your local network.Once you connect your IP phone to the network and to an electrical supply, the IPphone begins its initialization process.During the initialization process, the following events take place:Loading the ROM fileThe ROM file resides in the flash memory of the IP phone. The IP phone come from thefactory with a ROM file preloaded. During initialization, the IP phone runs a bootstraploader that loads and executes the ROM file.Configuring the VLANIf the IP phone is connected to a switch, the switch notifies the IP phone of the VLANinformation defined on the switch (if using LLDP). The IP phone can then proceed withthe DHCP request for its network settings (if using DHCP).If in-line power switch/hub is provided, you don’t need to connect the phone to thepower adapter. Make sure the switch/hub is PoE-compliant.The IP phone can also share the network with another network device such as a PC(personal computer). It is an optional connection.Important! Do not unplug or remove power while the IP phone is updating firmware andconfigurations.
