035-14841-000 Rev. A (0701)Unitary Products Group 5BEFORE LIFTING A UNIT, MAKE SURE THAT ITSWEIGHT IS DISTRIBUTED EQUALLY ON THE CABLESSO THAT IT WILL LIFT EVENLY.Units may also be moved or lifted with a forklift. Slotted open-ings in the base rails are provided for this purpose.LENGTH OF FORKS MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 42".Remove the nesting brackets from the four corners on top ofthe unit. All screws that are removed when taking thesebrackets off must be replaced on the unit.Refer to Table 2 for unit weights and to Figure 1 for approxi-mate center of gravity.CLEARANCESAll units require certain clearances for proper operation andservice. Refer to Figure 5 for the clearances required forcombustible construction, servicing, and proper unit opera-tion.DUCTWORKDuctwork should be designed and sized according to themethods in the manuals of the Air Conditioning Contractorsof America (ACCA).A closed return duct system shall be used. This shall not pre-clude use of economizers or outdoor fresh air intake. Thesupply and return air duct connections at the unit should bemade with flexible joints to minimize the transmission ofnoise. The supply and return air duct systems should be designedfor the CFM and static requirements of the job. They shouldNOT be sized to match the dimensions of the duct connec-tions on the unit.Refer to Figure 5 for information concerning side and bottomsupply and return air duct openings.FILTERS1" filters are supplied with each unit. 2" replacement filtersmay be used with no modification to the filter racks. Filtersmust always be installed ahead of the evaporator coil andmust be kept clean or replaced with same size and type. Dirtyfilters will reduce the capacity of the unit and will result infrosted coils or safety shutdown. Minimum filter area andrequired sizes are shown in Table 2.CONDENSATE DRAINPlumbing must conform to local codes. Use a sealing com-pound on male pipe threads. Install a condensate drain linefrom the 3/4" PVC female connection on the unit to spill intoan open drain.NOTE: The condensate drain line MUST be trapped to pro-vide proper drainage. See Figure 2.SERVICE ACCESSAccess to all serviceable components is provided by the fol-lowing removable panels:• Compressor compartment• Heater compartment• Blower compartment• Main control box• Filter compartment• Motor Access (on units w/belt-drive option)FIGURE 1 : CENTER OF GRAVITYDo not permit overhanging structures or shrubs toobstruct outdoor air discharge outlet.FrontApproximateCenter ofGravityA B44-7/8"82-1/4"3, 4, 5 Ton19-3/4"40-3/4"Dim.ABWhen fastening ductwork to the side duct flangeson the unit, insert the screws through the ductflanges only.
