Electricalshock could cause personal injury.Installing and servicing heating and air conditioningequipment can be hazardous due to system pressure andelectrical components. Only trained and qualified servicepersonnel should install, repair or service heating and airconditioning equipment. Untrained personnel can performthe basic maintenance functions of cleaning coils andcleaning and replacing filters. All other operations shouldbe performed by trained service personnel. When workingon heating and air conditioning equipment, observeprecautions in the literature, tags and labels attached to theunit and other safety precautions that may apply.Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and workgloves. Use a quenching cloth for brazing operations andhave a fire extinguisher available.Moving and StorageMove units in the normal “up” orientation. Do not stackmore than two units in total height. Do not attempt tomove units while stacked. When the equipment is received,all items should be carefully checked against the bill oflading to be sure all crates and cartons have been received.Examine units for shipping damage, removing the unitsfrom the packaging only if necessary. Units in questionshould also be internally inspected. If any damage is noted,the carrier should make the proper notation on the deliveryreceipt, acknowledging the damage.Exercise care when moving the unit. Do not remove anypackaging until the unit is near the place of installation.Rig the unit by attaching chain or cable slings to the liftingholes provided in the base rails. Spreader bars, whose lengthexceeds the largest dimension across the unit, MUST be usedacross the top of the unit.General Installation InformationUnits may be moved or lifted with a forklift. Slottedopenings in the base rails are provided for this purpose.Fork must be at least 59 inches long.Unit LocationLocate the Packaged Heat Pump away from areas thatmay disturb the customer and in a way that allows easyremoval of the access panels and the top of the cabinet.Provide sufficient room to make water and electricalconnections, and allow space for service personnel toperform maintenance. The Packaged Heat Pump is approvedfor outdoor installation when properly installed. Openloop applications are to be installed in locations where theambient temperature never drops below 32˚F. Failure todo so will result in failure of the heat pump. Closed loopapplications need to ensure that antifreeze is used to ensurethe freeze protection is below the ambient temperature.Fork Pocket CoversThere are eight fork pocket covers and mounting screwsprovided with the unit. Once the heat pump is set in place,secure the fork pocket covers to the base rails with providedscrews to close off the base rail openings.If a unit is to be installed on a roof curbgasketing must be applied to all surfaces thatcome in contact with the unit underside.Before lifting, make sure the unit weight isdistributed equally on the rigging cables so it willlift evenly.All panels must be secured in place when theunit is lifted.AFFINITY SERIES OUTDOOR PACKAGED HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION MANUAL
