Configuring NIBP Alarms and Settings9650-0803-01 Rev. B Propaq M Operator’s Guide 8-9In order to accurately measure systolic pressure, the CIT pressure must be high enough toocclude the underlying artery. However, setting the CIT pressure too high may unnecessarilyincrease the reading determination time and patient discomfort. After each NIBP measurement, the Propaq M unit adjusts the cuff inflation pressure to optimizethe next NIBP measurement.Note: The maximum cuff inflation pressure for neonates is 153 mmHg.Warning! Before using the Propaq M to monitor a new patient, power down the Propaq M unitfor at least 2 minutes to reset all patient parameters and eliminate all adjustments madefor the previous patient.Configuring NIBP Alarms and SettingsThe last step in preparing to perform NIBP measurements is to ensure that the necessary alarmsare enabled (or disabled), that alarm limits are appropriate, and that the NIBP settings arecorrect.Enabling/Disabling NIBP Alarms and Setting Alarm LimitsWhen enabled, the Propaq M unit sounds alarms whenever measurements are outside set limitsfor the following:• High and Low Systolic Pressure• High and Low Diastolic Pressure• High and Low Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)To enable (or disable) NIBP alarms and set upper and lower alarm limits, you can do so throughthe Alarms quick access key ( ) or the NIBP Parameter Control Panel. To configure NIBP alarm limits through the Alarms quick access key:1. Press the More quick access key ( ).2. Press the Alarms quick access key ( ).3. Press the Limits quick access key ( ).4. Use the navigation keys to highlight and select the appropriate alarm menu selection. ForNIBP, the alarm menu selections are NIBP Systolic Alarm, NIBP Diastolic Alarm, andNIBP MAP Alarm.5.
