19Cleaning the sealed hotplatesand hotplate trimsIn order to maintain the appearance of yourappliance's sealed hotplates and trims, youare advised to use the recommendedcleaning agents daily. If you do not allowspillages to burn on they will be much easierto clean off.Things to noteThe red spot in the centre of the hotplatesmay be removed with some abrasivecleaning agents. This is not a fault and doesnot affect the performance of the hotplates.For normal soilageWipe over the hotplates and trims using aclean damp cloth then switch to a low ormedium setting for a few minutes tothoroughly dry.For heavy soilageUse a clean damp cloth or scourer with acream cleaner e.g. ‘Cif’ or a powder cleanere.g. ‘Ajax’ on the hotplate and trims. Followthe circular grooved pattern on the hotplatewhen cleaning. Rinse off cleaning agentsthoroughly. Dry as for normal soilage.For more stubborn marks warm the hotplateon a low setting for 30 seconds. Clean thesealed plate with ‘Ajax’ powder cleaner, ‘Cif’or cream cleaner or a ‘Brillo’ pad. You mayhave to rub hard for several minutes.Rinse off cleaning agents thoroughly with adamp cloth. Switch to a low or mediumsetting for a few minutes until the hotplate isthoroughly dry.Cleaning the hotplate trimsThe stainless steel trims may become strawcoloured during use. Using a proprietarystainless steel cleaner, e.g. ‘Shiny Sinks’ willhelp maintain a bright appearance.Alternatively a powder cleaner such as ‘BarKeepers Friend’ may be used regularly.Cleaning the shelves andgrill/oven furnitureAll removable parts, can be washed in thedishwasher.The grill pan, grill pan grid and oven shelvesmay be cleaned using a soap impregnatedsteel wool pad. Soaking first in hot soapywater will make cleaning easier.Cleaning inside the oven(s)The sides and back of the main ovencompartment are coated with a specialStayclean coating. They should not becleaned manually.The vitreous enamel main oven base andgrill compartment can be cleaned usingnormal oven cleaners with care. Ensure thatthe manufacturers instructions are followedand that all parts are well rinsed afterwards.Aerosol cleaners must not comeinto contact with elements, the doorseal, or any painted finishes as thismay cause damage.
