Aharmless smoke will be given off from thehotplatesUsing the hob• Turn the control knob in either directionto vary the heat setting.• The highest number represents thehottest setting and the lowest numberrepresents the coolest setting.Recommended saucepansOnly saucepans with flat bases and closefitting lids are recommended. The saucepanbase should be approximately the same sizeas the cooking area. Ensure that newsaucepans are well scrubbed to removeedges and take off any deposits left frommanufacture.Traditional round bottomed Woks must notbe used even with a stand. Woks with flat-bottomed bases are available and do complywith the above recommendations.Hints and tips• Lift, rather than slide saucepans on andoff the hob to help reduce scratches andmaintain the efficiency of the hotplates.• Avoid the use of decorative covers asthey can cause condensation to form onthe hotplates which may lead todeterioration.• Follow any guidelines provided by thesaucepan manufacturer, particularlythose relating to recommended heatsettings.• Avoid using thin, badly dented ordistorted saucepans. Those with unevenbases should not be used.• Never leave the hotplates ON when notcovered with a saucepan.• Ensure that the hob and saucepans areclean and dry before the start of cookingto reduce cleaning.• Follow the cleaning instructions veryclosely to keep the hob looking like new.420
